Lady Of The Forest

"The Enchanted Visions Projects theme for the month of January 2011 was Lady of the Forest, and this was my contribution. The Lady of the Forest is the nurturing force of life and an faun-like elven spirit of life on earth, she is a part of the realm of the fae. She is sometimes seen in the rise and fall of mountains or in the flowers of all kinds that grow and produce seeds. She rests beneath the canopy of the woods as dappled sunlight is filtered through the green leaves above as she contemplates her connection with the entire green world. Her realm is the gardens and orchards of the world, where the Greenman rules over that which is wild, she rules that which is cultivated. She blesses the fields, she is the spirit of manifestation, she brings the seeds to life and helps them grow. She is a wonderful spirit to call upon for healing, nurturing and to put things in their proper order. The Lady of the forest is the holder of the ancient wisdom of the past, the keeper of memories. She watches over the balance of all things green and growing.

The reference photo is actually one of my oldest daughter Brittany's senior portraits that I took for her myself. Brittany had made a lovely green dress that was based on one that Arwen wore in Fellowship of the Ring and we had taken all these lovely dramatic photos of her in it. I loved her expression in this pic, and decided it was perfect for Lady of the Forest."
